The women’s suffrage campaign in Hereford is a remarkable story, with the militant suffragettes and peaceful suffragists often working collectively, ranged against the anti-suffrage activists who were equally passionate about their opposition to women gaining the Parliamentary vote. All these are brought together in Clare Wichbold’s book Hard Work - But Glorious

Thursday June 15th         Christian Montez:  "Discovery of old glass plate photographs of Hereford allows us to look at Hereford “then and now”

 

Thursday July 20th             Dr Neil Rimmington  (Inspector of Ancient Monuments at Historic                                                                                               England) 

“An Inspector in Herefordshire: the work of an Ancient Monument Inspector in the Herefordshire Landscape”

Saturday July 22nd             Private group visit to Polish born sculptor Walenty Pytel’s home workshop and studio near Ross-on-Wye. Walenty Pytel is unique amongst contemporary artists.  His inspired creations are drawn from nature and transform metal into works of living art.     Car pool.

Wednesday July 26th   
Gentle Summer Walk Followed by Tea
David Whitehead will lead us on a journey of discovery: "the architectural/garden history of this corner of Hereford". We will finish with tea and exploration of his Hafod Road garden.

 

Wednesday September 6th      HCS Annual Summer Outing. 

Shrewsbury Flaxmill & Maltings and includes a boat trip on the River Severn.
